Hi Chaps
I'm out Sunday roving with light tackle, look for grayling but happy to catch anything really. I got smashed twice last year so I know how you feel Dave and I'd strengthened set up the second time in readiness, still got totally spanked and sat staring at the river for an hour. Finally persuaded myself not to jump in and end it all and went home to kick the dog.

Went trotting around Toton today and after a few hours soul searching things kicked off. I must have had 30+ roach, almost a fish a chuck and all on maggot. I was joined by Daryl walking the dog who was also pleased to see a large amount of silverfish thriving in the Erewash, especially as they've seemed scarce in recent times. The roach were in a deep hole which reinforces the case for the rivers need for scour-pools created by in stream restoration, not only giving depth of water but suitable habitat to hide from the many predators around.
This chub was a welcome addition to my afternoons trotting as well, a fine fish if I say so myself. I met up with Ady for the last couple of hours around Moorbridge but nothing was doing there although Ady landed a nice chub on his last cast, around 2lb. It was wonderful to get my trotting gear out and no doubt I will be doing it again soon.
what a fish, especially in a small stream it must of gone like a train. I'm out this week now
